Blue Ladder was founded by Dan Huke and Martin Kilpatrick.
After a successful career in IT and project management, Dan turned his passion for building beautiful and functional creations into a business. As a customer of building services, Dan saw that the process could often be confusing, expensive and unreliable. He set up Blue Ladder to change this, to create a building firm that puts the customer first, and delivers quality work at fair and clear prices.
Following an early career in corporate audit, Martin decided to pursue his passion for building by using his creative & analytical mindset. Martin has now worked in the building trade for over 10 years. Ranging from refurbishing offices in the city of London such as at the Gherkin, to extending people’s homes or redesigning them with new kitchens, bathrooms & gardens. Martin is also a keen carpenter and is often asked by customers to build bespoke bookcases, staircases or cupboards. Quality is the priority focus for Martin, keeping his customers in the loop continuously to ensure the end result is as desired.
Communication
Blue ladder makes the process of hiring a building contractor easy, transparent and fair. We'll provide a quote for your project, however big or small, and that's the price you'll pay. There are no hidden extras.
Your online quote will include a schedule of work to be carried out, a breakdown of costs and any required design drawings, 3D models and other documents, so you know exactly what to expect from us.
We won't start building until you have confirmed the scope of work and price to be paid, which you can do via your customer portal on our website.
We normally ask for a 50% deposit before work begins, with the balance payable immediately upon completion. In any case you'll see a full schedule of costs and the dates they are payable before you commit to any build.
Sustainability
At Blue Ladder we're always mindful of our impact on the environment, and the need for our creations to be sustainable and long-lasting. We use recycled materials whenever practical, and consider the environmental impact of our work from the design stage through to completion of the build.
Experience
Our team of professional builders and contractors have many years’ experience working on commercial and domestic projects of all sizes. We also work with a network of specialist tradespeople so if our team don't have the required skills for an aspect of your project, we know who to call to get the job done.
Consideration
We know building works can be disruptive, so we make sure we keep everything clean and tidy. Any noisy work will be carried out only within agreed times.
We take Covid precautions seriously, and ensure all our contractors comply with guidelines regarding face coverings, social distancing and other health and safety procedures.
